Schubert Club Announces Accordo Season 12

By Kristina MacKenzie

Schubert Club is pleased to announce the 12th season of Accordo. Accordo is a collective of present and former principal players of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and Minnesota Orchestra who enjoy playing chamber music together. The group has been named “Best Chamber Ensemble” by the Minneapolis Star Tribune and “the dream team of chamber music” by Minnesota Monthly. Accordo has been performing since 2008 to enthusiastic audiences in packed venues.

For the third year, Accordo’s four Monday evening performances will take place at Westminster Hall at Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Minneapolis. The group will also reprise their increasingly popular Accordo with Silent Film concert at the Ordway Concert Hall in downtown Saint Paul. Back for a sixth year, this concert will feature silent films with original live music performed by Accordo.

Accordo violinist Steven Copes states: “In a new season of renewal, healing and hopefully celebration, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart makes an appearance on every program in our 2020-2021 season, beginning with his beloved and gorgeous Serenade for strings, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. As always, engaging and challenging works of our time are also represented by masters of their craft like György Kurtág, American composers Stephen Hartke and George Tsontakis (a Twin Cities premiere), and a brilliant string duo by young composer and Kronos quartet cellist Paul Wiancko. We’re also excited to have some amazing new performers with us next season, and we eagerly look forward to seeing you, the audience we appreciate so much, soon for more evenings of chamber music with Accordo!”

In light of the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, Schubert Club has temporarily changed its ticket policies for the coming season. Whether concerts are able to go ahead or not, all ticket holders will have the option to turn back their tickets, bank the value of their tickets for a later concert in the 2020-21 season or towards the 2021-22 season, or to request a refund. More information can be found on Schubert Club’s Ticket Policies page.

Dates for Accordo’s Tuesday evening concerts at Icehouse will be announced later this summer.
