LISTEN to the wide world of percussion! CREATE your own claves and shakers and LEARN and PLAY an array of energetic rhythms. Music comes from the heart and then you find something to play it on! Using simple or found instruments such as 5-gallon buckets, claves, paper, tin cans and body percussion, the trio features the creativity of today’s composers. These unlikely instruments and their sounds unlock the musical possibilities of the things around us. This workshop is sold out.

SOLD OUT! LISTEN to the thunder of the high energy taiko drums. LEARN about taiko's Japanese and Asian American roots and history. PLAY the drums and feel the beats rattle inside your chest while you CREATE your own groove.

LISTEN to the wonderful sound of the Son Huasteco and the Huapango. Discover and PLAY Mexican Folk traditional instruments like the Jarana Huasteca, Vihuela, and Guitarra Huapanguera. CREATE your own lyrics and LEARN dance steps to this rhythmically vibrant music.

LISTEN to the happy sounds of the charango and PLAY the rhythmic cullus (rattles), bombos (drums), and sonajas (bell shakers). CREATE your own sonaja to wear as you LEARN to dance and sing a traditional San Juan.

Bring the whole family to the Ordway and enjoy a wide range of creative activities happening throughout the building. You can make or try an instrument, learn new dance moves, or try your hand at costume and sound design. In addition, every 20 minutes a new show or concert will start inside the two performance spaces. See a theatrical performance of Goodnight Moon, listen to Mexican folk music performed by Andale Juana!, hear stories told by actor T. Mychael Rambo set to music, and so much more!
