The increasingly popular Accordo with Silent Film is back in 2025. Join us at the Ordway for a laid back evening of silent movies with original live music.
“Women in Early Cinema” featuring 100-year old silent movies and new live music by Accordo with pianist/composer Stephen Prutsman.
This year’s program includes six movies from the collection “Cinema’s First Nasty Women” selected by guest curator Maggie Hennefeld. These rarely-seen silent films, made between 1899 and 1926, are about feminist protest, slapstick rebellion and suggestive gender play.
Accordo performs live music written specifically for these films by Michelle Kinney, AJ Isaacson-Zvidzwa, Meg Morley, Jess Julian, John Novacek and Stephen Prutsman.
