Moriz Rosenthal
Here are the complete recordings of this famous pupil of Franz Liszt, made between 1928 and 1942, which remain an invaluable source for study by pianists and aficionados. They include Rosenthal’s own Carnival of Vienna, a humoresque based on themes of Johann Strauss, which the Austrian-Polish pianist played in Vienna for the “Waltz King” himself as well as in St. Paul at his Schubert Club recital in 1899:
