Governor Mark Dayton declares August 8 “Dominick Argento Day” in the state of Minnesota

The Governor of Minnesota has declared August 8, 2016 as a statewide “Dominick Argento Day.” 
Our friends at the Source Song Festival are celebrating with two concerts book-ending their week-long festival of song:

August 8th, 8pm, Ted Mann Concert Hall 
OpenSource: A Dominick Argento Celebration
Hosted by MPR’s Brian Newhouse, this concert features live interviews with the composer and those artists who premiered some of his most famous song cycles. Featuring: Håkan Hagegård, Martin Katz, Maria Jette, Adriana Zabala, Michael Slattery, Jeffrey Van, and Jesse Blumberg.

August 13th, 8pm, Ordway Concert Hall: 
An evening of Argento’s two seminal vocal works The Andrée Expedition and From the Diary of Virginia Woolf which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1975.  Featuring: Tyler Duncan, Jesse Blumberg, Alan Dunbar, Tyler Wottrich, Kate Maroney, Ann Cravero, Erika Switzer and Hagegård himself.
