Pianist Sir András Schiff is known as one of the most renowned interpreters of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Schumann. A Hungarian-born British classical pianist and conductor, he started piano at the age of five and has since received numerous major awards and honors, including the Grammy Award, Gramophone Award, Mozart Medal, and Royal Academy of Music Bach Prize. In 2014, Sir András was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to music. For his October 29 Schubert Club recital, he will perform a program featuring Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Brahms and Bach on the Ordway Music Theater stage. This will be his first Schubert Club recital in over 20 years, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to the Ordway stage. We advise you purchase your tickets early, as we expect this concert to sell out well in advance!

Bring the whole family to the Ordway and enjoy a wide range of creative activities happening throughout the building. In addition, every 20 minutes a new show or concert will start inside the two performance spaces. See a theatrical performance of Goodnight Moon, listen to Mexican folk music performed by Andale Juana!, hear stories told by actor T. Mychael Rambo set to music, and so much more!

Winner of Gramophone’s “Recording of the Year 2016” award and most recently named the 2018 recipient of the prestigious Gilmore Artist Award, a $300,000 international piano prize conferred every four years, Igor Levit has now progressed from rising star to “one of the essential artists of his generation” (The New York Times). Born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1987, Levit moved with his family to Germany at the age of eight where he currently resides. As the youngest participant in the 2005 Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv, Igor Levit won the Silver Prize, as well as the Prize for Best Performer of Chamber Music, the Audience Favorite Prize, and the Prize for Best Performer of Contemporary Music. After making his U.S. debut in 2015 and his International Artist Series debut in 2016, the Schubert Club enthusiastically welcomes this phenomenal young artist back, this time to the larger Ordway Music Theater, for a predominantly Germanic recital program featuring the music of Bach, Busoni, Schumann, Wagner and Liszt.
