About the Artists
Acclaimed violinist Augustin Hadelich returns to open the 2021-22 International Artist Series on November 2nd and 3rd. Hailed by The New York TImes as “one of the astounding violinists of his generation,” Hadelich is consistently cited worldwide for his phenomenal technique, soulful approach, and insightful interpretations. He was named as Musical America’s 2018 “Instrumentalist of the Year,” won a 2016 Grammy Award for “Best Classical Instrumental Solo” and is the recipient of the inaugural Warner Music Prize in 2015, among other accolades. One of Germany’s most prestigious newspapers, the Süddeutsche Zeitung, wrote about his 2018 recording of Paganini’s 24 Caprices: “Anyone who masters these pieces so confidently has, so to speak, reached the regions of eternal snow: he has reached the top.”
For this performance, Hadelich will be joined by pianist Orion Weiss. One of the most sought-after soloists in his generation of young American musicians, the pianist Orion Weiss has performed with many major American orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and New York Philharmonic. His deeply felt and exceptionally crafted performances go far beyond his technical mastery and have won him worldwide acclaim.
