Sphinx Virtuosi: Music Without Borders

A chamber ensemble comprised of the nation’s top Black and Latino classical string soloists, the Sphinx Virtuosi returns to Saint Paul after acclaimed performances at the Ordway in 2016 and 2017. The orchestra will perform music by composers from communities searching for harmony and separated by time, distance, hardship and conflict. Included are works by Emmy-nominated Syrian-American composer Kareem Roustom, three-time Grammy-nominated Uruguayan-American composer Miguel del Aguila, multiple Grammy Award-winning American jazz trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard, and the Chamber Symphony of one of the towering figures of classical music, Dmitri Shostakovich.
Co-presented by the Arts Partnership (The Ordway, Minnesota Opera, Schubert Club and the SPCO)
