Le Consort is a new and distinctive ensemble made up of four young musicians who share a passion for exploring the riches of the Baroque repertoire. Their performances, on period instruments of the day, are known for their originality, vitality, and enthusiasm in illuminating works for two violins and basso continuo –  the quintessential baroque ensemble.

Since their founding in 2016, Le Consort has quickly gained the respect of the early music world. The ensemble was awarded First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Loire Valley International Early Music Competition, and their recent recording “Opus 1”, a collection of the first works of Arcangelo Corelli and Jean-François Dandrieu has earned numerous awards and extensive critical acclaim.

Le Consort’s mission is to bring together compelling and often unknown musical personalities in the service of chamber music from the 17th and 18th centuries, as they do in “Hidden Treasures of the Baroque.” This well-crafted program surveys the era that nurtured the rich imaginations of composers like Couperin, Biber, and Uccelli, and the remarkable Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, one of the few well-known female composers of her time.

Le Consort makes its American debut this season with concerts in Chicago, Montreal, Boston, New Orleans, Kansas City, Berkeley, and Vancouver, as well as St Paul.
