Landmark Center Courtroom 317

Hosted by composer Abbie Betinis, our popular Courtroom Concerts take place at noon most Thursdays in the Landmark Center in downtown Saint Paul. This series features accomplished musicians and composers from the Twin Cities and surrounding area, as well as occasional musical newcomers to the area. These one-hour concerts are free and open to the public.

About the Artists:

Donna Stoering (DonnaStoering.com) is an award-winning, internationally renowned performing and recording artist, collaborative pianist, television host/producer, performance coach, composer, and social entrepreneur. She has performed public concerts since age five and taught professionally since age ten. While a Marshall scholar in the UK, Donna was appointed head of the piano department at the University of York and then artist in residence at Oxford University. Donna served as an artistic and cultural ambassador for both the UK and USA to countries around the globe. The BBC, NPR, PBS affiliates, Hong Kong Radio&Television and the national networks of Russia, Italy, Ukraine and countless other countries have aired full length specials about her life and work.

A protege of the late Sir Georg Solti, she has been a concerto soloist with major orchestras and music festivals and has given numerous premieres of works created for her. She has adjudicated national and international competitions, and she enjoys private teaching, performance coaching and giving masterclasses. But she particularly enjoys performing with renowned lider/art song vocalists and opera stars of the Met, Bolshoi, La Scala, Royal Opera and/or doing instrumental chamber music with both renowned classical artists and master musicians of all cultures/instrumental traditions, often creating new crossover works in the process. For one such concert in Carnegie Hall, for example, she combined traditional-instrument masters from Israel, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, India, Vietnam, USA and the Polynesian Islands, all joining her in new sound combinations they created together live onstage.

In 1998 Donna founded the award-winning nonprofit Listen For Life, which supports musicians in service of others worldwide. She has created new music festivals on four continents and hosted television programs about cross-cultural music on national networks of many countries.

She is thrilled that L4L produced its first project here (Minnesota Celebrates Flicka!) in September 2024 – a series of 9 events (recitals and masterclasses in several cities) featuring legendary opera star Frederica von Stade – in association with Schubert Club!

Donna Stoering moved here to the Twin Cities with her husband, Andy Anderson, in summer 2023 and she is extremely grateful for the warm community of musicians, music listeners and friends that they have already encountered here in their new “forever” home.
