The Schubert Club is pleased to announce special late hours in the Museum on the First Thursday of each month from 4-8 pm. This will be a great opportunity for the community to experience our engaging collection of historical music and replicas, original autographed letters from notable composers and other music-themed exhibits of historic and cultural interest outside of the regular daytime hours.
Free to the public, visitors can enjoy guided tours, live demonstrations, fun interactive music-making, trivia contests with opportunities to win tickets for Schubert Club performances and complimentary wine (for guests 21+) and refreshments.
Each month Schubert Club will host a special guest(s) to demonstrate and explore the many treasures in the museum. Peek inside our historical keyboards and observe our experts as they take them apart and demonstrate all the fascinating mechanisms and how they work. Imagine being back in 1790 and sense the emotions behind an original love letter from Mozart. Or step back in time to experience the over 1000-year communal musical tradition of Balinese Gamelan.
Stop by every month for a new experience. If your daytime plans don’t allow you to visit the Schubert Club Museum, this is an awesome way to spend an evening learning, exploring, and socializing with others.
First Thursday Schedule of Activities
On October 5, for our first ever First Thursday, historical keyboard technician and research specialist Steve Misener will compare the inner workings of three 18th and early 19th century English Broadwood keyboards and demonstrate his work in restoring them. Additionally, keyboardist Donald Livingston will discuss interesting characteristics of some Schubert Club historical replicas and perform repertoire relevant to each.
