Family Concert: Yolanda Kondonassis, harp and Jason Vieaux, guitar
Friday, March 3, 7:15 pm
This series features nationally and locally celebrated performing artists in programs of folk, ethnic and classical music. Storytelling, dance and audience participation add to this vibrant array of concerts, created for children of all ages and their families. This year’s theme, “With Strings Attached” features three different concerts with a variety of stringed instruments including harp, guitar, dulcimer, nickelharp, fiddle, violin, viola and cello. Concerts take place at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in the St. Anthony Park neighborhood of St. Paul.
Two of America’s premier soloists and recording artists join forces in a program featuring “Spirit of Trees” by Alan Hovhaness and other works that bring music and nature together. Readings from Kondonassis’ “Our House is Round: A Kid’s Book About Why Protecting Our Earth Matters,” carry a special message from the author to all who care about protecting our natural resources.
