Purchased for the Berlin apartment of renowned painter Adolph von Menzel, (Hang Menzel’s painting/print nearby) this piano was used regularly for home recitals.  Among those who attended and likely played at those musical evenings were Robert and Clara Schumann, Johannes Brahms and Felix Mendelssohn. 

This instrument has a wooden body and Viennese action with leather-covered hammers.  Donated in 1972, this instrument marked the beginning of Schubert Club’s keyboard collection.
