Communications Manager
Full-Time (non-exempt)
Wage: $44,000-$48,000
Schedule: 40 hours per week. Regular business hours (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. M-F) with frequent evening and weekend hours for events during the concert season. Hybrid position with some remote flexibility; in-person presence is required when working concerts and events, and some in-office days are required.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications Manager supports Schubert Club’s Marketing and Communications activities, including creating content and maintaining timelines for email marketing, and both paid and organic social media campaigns to drive visibility, and audience engagement and development for Schubert Club. This position also assists with Patron Services, both over the phone and at Schubert Club concerts and events. The role includes both administrative office-based work, as well as concert and event support.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute paid and organic social media campaigns, with the oversight of the Director of Marketing and Communications.
- Maintain Schubert Club’s social media calendar, oversee day-to-day social media activities, and create content for all Schubert Club social platforms.
- Ensure regular posting on social media, especially Facebook and Instagram, monitor and respond to comments and messages professionally and authentically.
- Create paid social media campaigns for Schubert Club concerts and events, monitor performance and budget, and make adjustments as needed.
- Create Facebook events for all Schubert Club concerts and events as directed.
- Help to seek out and evaluate new social media channels and opportunities for Schubert Club.
- Coordinate and maintain Schubert Club’s marketing email calendar, create and edit content for Schubert Club’s email newsletter.
- Maintain Schubert Club’s marketing email calendar, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications.
- Create original and compelling email content to promote Schubert Club’s concert series, education programs, and the Music Museum.
- Build and schedule event reminders for all ticketed Schubert Club concerts and events in Mailchimp.
- Create content for and make regular updates to Schubert Club’s website.
- Create and update website content as directed by the Director of Marketing & Communications and Patron Relations Manager, and other Schubert Club staff as required.
- Create and maintain event pages for Schubert Club concerts, events and other programs as required.
- Help to ensure that all content on Schubert Club’s website is up to date and accurate.
- Support the Patron Services Manager and Director of Marketing & Communications in providing exceptional customer service according to Schubert Club’s standards and guidelines to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Provide positive enforcement of Schubert Club policies and procedures, continually maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Clearly and proactively communicate accurate and consistent information regarding Schubert Club events, programs, and ticket office policies.
- Assist patrons with their orders on the phone and in person. Actively promote Schubert Club programming for up-selling and cross-selling opportunities where applicable.
- Accurately process ticketing and related transactions in Audience View, including subscription orders, single ticket sales, turn backs, refunds, exchanges, banked tickets, and donations.
- Maintain confidentiality of patron information.
- Provide support to the Director of Marketing & Communications and Patron Services Manager for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Communicate with Schubert Club’s advertising partners, assist with tracking advertising contracts and deadlines.
- Join the Director of Marketing & Communications in representing Schubert Club in the Arts Partnership Marketing Group and assist with Arts Partnership projects.
- Pull basic reports and lists from Audience View as requested.
- Submit upcoming concerts and events to online listings.
- Assist with distributing marketing materials to local businesses.
6. Provide assistance to patrons at Schubert Club concerts and events as needed.
- Assist Patron Services Manager and Director of Marketing & Communications with Box Office and Marketing-related tasks at concerts.
- Assist with event setup and onsite event support for Schubert Club concerts and other special events.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years of professional experience in marketing, digital media or related field strongly preferred.
- Hands-on professional experience with email, social media, and web content creation tools strongly preferred.
- Strong writing skills and ability to adapt content and voice for different platforms and audiences.
- Experience with ticketing software or another point-of-sale system, and/or customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to independently manage tasks and deadlines with a varying workload.
- Ability to proactively develop timelines, meet deadlines, and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and clear communication skills, both oral and written.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends for Schubert Club events.
- May need to move boxes up to 20 pounds for event needs.
- Have access to reliable and independent transportation.
