Minnesota Composer Spotlight: Dominick Argento

Celebrating Dominick Argento's 85th Birthday

Dominick Argento, Pulitzer Prize winning composer and Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota, has a long history with The Schubert Club. In celebration of his 85th birthday in October 2012, The Schubert Club presents a concert of his works on our Courtroom Concert Series. The concert takes place at noon on October 18, 2012, and features Argento's Miss Manners on Music, Three Sonnets of Petrarch, and Cabaret Songs.

 

Interview with Dominick Argento

In celebration of Dominick Argento's 85th birthday in October 2012, The Schubert Club will present a concert of his works on the Courtroom Concert of October 18. The Pulitzer-prize winning composer made time to talk to Abbie Betinis in The Schubert Club Museum where he shared his thoughts on a wide range of topics including his works and approach to composition, the Twin Cities arts community and his long association with The Schubert Club.

Artaria String Quartet

 

The Courtroom Concerts during the month of January will feature the Artaria String Quartet in an exciting chamber music making project called "East Meets West." The group will perform quartets by eight major composers from Eastern and Western European heritage: Barber, Borodin, Bridge, Britten, Dvorak, Ives, Prokofiev and Schulhoff. Every Thursday at noon at Landmark Center. Free. Come early to get a seat!
